Dear NHUSD Families,
In April, the NHUSD Board of Education passed a resolution designating May 17-21 as Classified Employees’ Appreciation Week. The board resolution can be found HERE. Our classified employees work hard everyday to make sure that our classrooms, schools, and offices are providing the best possible environments for our students, families, and staff. In addition, our classified employees have been serving our students and families in-person at our sites throughout the entire pandemic. Without their contributions to our district, we simply would not be able to operate. Thank you classified employees!
There seems to be daily changes to health requirements and expectations related to the pandemic. The State’s tiered reopening system will apparently end on June 15 and there will soon be new guidance issued by the Governor and the CDC that will relax some of the mask-wearing requirements. For us, we are proceeding forward cautiously and we will be using the current regulations that are in place for our summer programs. This will include a mask requirement while on campus, three feet of spacing between students, and other safety precautions. We are finalizing a checklist for our summer school principals to ensure that these measures are in place, and we will be sharing this with our summer school staff and families as well.
Summer school placement notifications should be going out next week. Our goal is to be able to offer a summer program for all of our students who submitted their applications by the deadline and we are on track to do that.
I hope you all have a great weekend.
John Thompson, Ed.D.
