HOW TO ENROLL: NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS
 
Step 1. Go to readtheory.org  and login as a student using the class code: BJB5HN1F
             watch this video to help you with the readtheory Assessment
 
Step 2. After taking the pre-reading assessment,  make an appointment by clicking on the link below to register for classes. Click here for Assessment Appointments
 
 If Step 1 is not completed by the time of your Assessment Appointment you will be asked to reschedule your appointment and or not be enrolled in your class.

GED Frequently Asked Questions
 
 Is the GED the same as a High School Diploma?  A GED is equivalent to a High School Diploma. 

  

What is GED short for? General Education Development or General Education Diploma.

 

What does a GED mean?  The GED is a test that shows that you have a level of knowledge equivalent to a high school graduate. The GED is an internationally recognized test.

 

Should I get my GED or High School Diploma? The choice is yours. When you register here at New Haven Adult School, it is the same registration, you decide what pathway is best for you. You will get information about both the High School Diploma and our GED programs. We can evaluate any High School transcripts with credits that you have already earned so you can make an informed decision about which pathway is better for you.

 

The GED® test covers 4 subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning Through Language Arts. You can take all 4 together or one at a time at an official GED® test center when you’re ready.

 

Do I still qualify for financial aid with a GED? Yes.
Is the test timed? Yes.
Is the test online? You take the GED test on a computer at an approved testing site.
Does New Haven Adult School have an approved testing center? No, Fremont Adult School, Hayward Adult School, and Castro Valley Adult School have approved testing centers. 
How do I register for the GED test? Online at GED.com.
How much is each GED test? Approximately $35.
Can I take the GED test in another language? The GED test is available in Spanish.
